Course Objective

This course will provide candidates with a solid foundation across the human resources management discipline.

The Diploma of Human Resources Management provides students with contemporary skills and knowledge in human resources management to advance their career. This practical course prepares graduates for a range of Human Resources roles.

It is highly recommended for current generalist HR or specialists who wish to obtain a formal qualification in their field. This course is for people who want to develop the required knowledge and skills to effectively manage a HR function and develop skills:

  • technical skills in areas like recruitment and selection, project management, workforce planning and health and safety
  • personal effectiveness, people performance and employee relations skills
  • change management and strategic direction

Human resources staff, managers and leaders who have responsibility or who want to develop capability to:

Foundation Skills

This course includes foundation skills as prescribed in each unit of competency. Foundation skills are a combination of English language, literacy and numeracy skills (LLN) - listening, speaking, reading, digital literacy and use of mathematical ideas, together with employability skills such as collaboration, problem solving, self-management, learning, and information and communication technology (ICT) skills required for participation in modern workplaces and contemporary life.

Delivery Strategy

The course will be delivered over nine (9) days of face-to-face workshops and will be led by our experienced trainers.

Each session contains a participant workbook that includes a series of theories and models, accompanying information, additional reading, written activities, reflective tasks and PowerPoint slides as well as the formal assessment.

Program Duration

We offer students up to 12 months to complete the BSB50615 - Diploma of Human Resources Management qualification. The course can be completed earlier depending on experience and recognition of prior learning.

RPL and Credit Transfer

Institute of Management can formally recognise a student's existing level of skills and knowledge in two ways:

  • Recognition of prior learning (RPL)
  • Credit transfer

Assessment Requirements

The objective of the assessment process is to help students consolidate and build on the formal learning delivery of the Diploma of Human Resources Management course, through the application of learning into their current or future work role.

These assessments are designed to cover a range of skills and knowledge required to demonstrate achievement of the course objectives. Our aim is to collect workplace evidence on a number of occasions and in a variety of contexts and situations.

  • Coordinate individual or group learning and development

BSBHRM513 - Manage workforce planning

  • Research workforce requirements
  • Develop workforce objectives and strategies
  • Implement initiatives to support workforce planning objectives
  • Monitor and evaluate workforce trends

Day Four

BSBHRM506 - Manage recruitment selection and induction processes

  • Develop recruitment, selection and induction policies and procedures
  • Recruit and select staff
  • Manage staff induction

Day Five

BSBWRK510 - Manage employee relations

  • Develop employee and industrial relations policies and plans
  • Implement employee relations policies and plans
  • Manage negotiations to resolve conflict

Day Six

BSBWHS401 - Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs to meet legislative requirements

  • Provide information to work team about WHS policy and procedures
  • Implement and monitor: participation arrangement for managing WHS; organisational procedures for providing WHS training; organisational procedures and legal requirements for identifying hazards and assessing and controlling risks; organisational procedures for maintaining WHS records for the team

Day Eight

  • Identify HR information requirements

Day Nine
